Mt. Berry, Ga. - Meghan Francis had five service aces and 11 kills to lead the Berry volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of local rival Shorter on Friday.

Shorter falls to 7-10 and is 3-4 in the league. The win improves Berry's record to 11-7 and keeps the team a perfect 6-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference matches.

The Lady Vikings hit .301 as a team and held Shorter to just a .155 percentage. That led to wins of 30-23, 30-19 and 30-22.

Shorter gained early momentum in front of a large crowd in Ford Gym and led 8-12 in the first game. However, Berry answered with three straight points on Nikki Weavers' serve to make it 12-13.

The Lady Vikings then took the lead 16-13 following Shawn Carroll's service efforts and never looked back. Berry finished the match with eight service aces.

Shorter was led by Jenny Mealer's nine kills. Setter Kristy Walker also had a solid match with 19 assists and two aces.
