Rome, Ga. - The Shorter College volleyball team did some quick recovery work and got a sweep of Southern States Athletic Conference opponent Brenau at home Wednesday night. After falling to SSAC foe Reinhardt 3-1 on the road Tuesday, the Lady Hawks defeated Brenau 30-10, 30-23 and 30-20 at the Winthrop-King Centre. Shorter (12-12, 4-5) had six different players record more than seven kills in the match, with Ashley Walton and Maggie Parker leading the way with 10. Utilizing two setters, Shorter got top performances from both Kristy Walker (26 assists) and Leslie Glore (18). And while nobody reached double digits in digs, Amy Marvin led the team with eight while also getting three kills, three aces, two assists and two block assists. The Lady Hawks will stay in town for their next two matches as they host non-conference foe Virginia Intermont Saturday at 2 p.m. and welcome crosstown Berry for a SSAC match next Tuesday at 7 p.m. |
