Rome, Ga. - Hosting Virginia Intermont in a non-conference match, Shorter College won 3-2 with strong performances from their seniors. The Lady Hawks (13-12) flipped sets with the visitors, 30-26, 31-33, 30-20 and 29-31 before finally taking the win in the fifth set 16-14. Seniors Jenny Mealer and Kate Puckett both had 16 kills to lead the team while Kasi Runion had 14, Ashley Walton had 11 and Amy Marvin finished with 10. Setter Kristy Walker had 64 assists in the extended battle while Kayla Rawlins recorded 26 digs. Shorter will host Southern States Athletic Conference opponent, and cross-town rival, Berry Tuesday at 7 p.m. |
