Atlanta, Ga. - Shorter College's Kasi Runion, a 6-foot-1, junior middle blocker from Ringgold, Ga., has been selected as the Southern States Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week (Sept. 29-Oct. 5). Runion was dominant in two SSAC wins this past week from the Lady Hawks.

Runion helped Shorter (8-11, 4-4) come back from an 0-2 deficit to defeat Faulkner University last Thursday night, 3-2. In the match, Runion had 21 kills, five digs, two blocks and nine key blocking assists. The Lady Hawks also defeated Brewton-Parker College, 3-0, a match in which Runion had 15 kills, two assists, nine digs, four digs and three blocks.

For the week, she had a solid .415 hitting percentage and finished with 36 kills (4.50 per game) and 17 total blocks in only eight games.

This is the first Volleyball Player of the Week honor for Shorter this season.

Shorter plays Southern Wesleyan at home on Wednesday in another important Southern States match at 7 p.m.
